On behalf of the Board, I thank you for your vote of confidence in allowing us to serve you this year – we look forward to another exciting year at Windng Vista. I personally would like to take this opportunity to thank all Board members for volunteering, especially Cherry Morgan for her service as Social Chairperson and to Erin Johnston for serving as our President for the past two years. The board anticipates another great summer season with Sweetwater Management Company providing our pool service.
Treasurer’s Report
2009 ended with total revenue collected of $151,203 and expenses of $142,932. Expenses were
$181 over the original budget and included a significant amount of unplanned tree removal and electrical repairs as well as upgrades to the Club – including a new pool water heater, the purchase of a pool vacuum cleaner and pre-payment for phase one of the playground area upgrade. The 2010 budget indicates that we may need to dip into our reserves in the event that the budget numbers turn out to be actual numbers in 2010. We will watch both revenue and expenses closely with an eye toward not running a deficit and dipping into the reserves. Membership Dues
At it’s January meeting, the Board approved Dues for 2010 at $480 ($440 regular dues plus the $40 special assessment). We are pleased to be able to fund many improvements requested by the members and address a number of required maintenance issues at the Club with only a small increase in dues this year. As a reminder, this is the last year of the special assessment which has been used to pay off debt from previous capital improvements. The deadline for payment of dues is March 1, 2010. After that date, a $25.00 late fee will be imposed. Your prompt payment of annual dues is appreciated. ). Also, please return the enclosed Contact Information Form with your dues payment in order to insure the Directory information is correct. Remember to include (or update) your email address. The main method of communication for Club information will be email and the web site. All summer happenings will be communicated via email and posted on the web site. Rest assured that the email addresses will not be distributed but used exclusively for Club communications. If you want to receive “Winding Words” updates, we must have your email address!
Volunteers Needed!
As mentioned in last year’s letter, volunteering is critical to – and fully expected of – each of our member families in order to keep the dues structure at the lowest possible level. For this reason, we ask all of our members to be ready to volunteer in an area in which they are able to serve. The areas are listed below. On the contact form, please check any area in which you can help.
Grounds
The WV workday will be April 17, 2010. We desperately need your help to complete a number of important projects (and some easy ones!) to make our summer season a successful one. Matt Evans will be sending out a list of projects to be completed via the Winding Words. Bring your rakes, work gloves and shovels to help keep Winding Vista beautiful.
Social Committee
Our social schedule promises to be very busy with events for all age groups at Winding Vista. Social Chairs Kim Evans and Marie Spies will soon be posting our summer events with plenty of volunteer opportunities available. If you have any ideas for new events or would be willing to help with an event, please contact Kim Evans or Marie Spies!
Swim Team
Our Winding Vista Vipers depend entirely on volunteers. They need your help. Please contact Bill Bruning for opportunities to be a part of this exciting team!
Tennis Committee
Volunteers will be needed for both general improvement projects as well as events held at our club. More details on these opportunities to follow.
Finally, I would like to give you my personal commitment to make 2010 another successful, safe and enjoyable year at Winding Vista. I am certain all of you realize that the success of this Club depends on each and every one of us members – not just on this great Board!
